BACKGROUND:
Unions must collect dues from employers, which means tracking how much they should pay, for whom and when. This union was using an antiquated system that would cost too much to upgrade.
SITUATION:
The system was simply not designed to handle the needs of the union and was actually costing them money in lost dues. A new system was needed that could track monies and reconcile employer checks.
SOLUTION:
PC Experts created a Microsoft Access database linked to a SQL Server for data storage. The system allows the union to track if the employers owed them union dues by reconciling an employer check against what the dues should have been for the payroll period. It also provides membership information to all union members, great when handling calls. |
SUMMARY:
Sometimes the best way to handle a company's business is through a custom solution. In this case it not only made economic sense, but the union also gained a program designed for their needs and not someone else's.
